WE DID IT. FIRST EXPANSION STAGE OF IRRIGATION – DONE!
Since our land is located directly on Lake Victoria (including access to the lake), we can and are allowed to benefit directly from the water. This means we can also grow crops during the two dry seasons and thus double our yield. This will bring us much closer to our goal of becoming financially self-sufficient.
For this purpose, we procured a powerful dirty water pump and laid 300m fire hoses on it.
We have now reached the first expansion stage (€2,500). This includes the pump, 300m of hose and a sprinkler.
The estimated cost for the entire irrigation system with multiple sprinklers is 4,000-5,000 euros. We hope to raise the money in the future.
Please everyone help us to achieve this major milestone.
February news 2025: Since we can’t get the money together that easily, we have bought 40 watering cans and 2 water barrels (€200) in the meantime so that they can water the larger plants (bananas, citrus trees) by hand. It’s a start.
We will implement a plan where the children will be divided into groups. Each group will be assigned a specific time and area (e.g. bananas, trees, cassava, etc.) to water each day.
In this way, the entire growing area is irrigated once within 2-3 days.
