Sewing Course at the Bible School – Off to a Good Start

At our vocational and Bible school in Bwembe the sewing course has begun – and it’s going really well! Several women sit at the sewing machines and learn step by step how to cut and sew fabric.

They learn both theory and practice: first reading and understanding sewing patterns, measuring and cutting, then sewing on the machine. A fixed weekly timetable gives it all structure – from the morning until late afternoon.

Why we are so pleased:

  • A trade for life: Anyone who can sew can earn money – making clothes, mending them, taking on orders. That makes the women independent.
  • Several at once: Learning and practice happen on several machines at the same time – so many women make progress together.
  • Real training: A fixed timetable, clear course units and exams – this is proper training, not a pastime.

One last request: The course depends on our sewing teacher. She does a brilliant job – and even pays for her own transport to get to lessons. At the end of the month we would love to give her a small wage so she can carry on with this important work.

For that we need support. If you would like to help these women keep training: You can donate here. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! 💚
