Amaranth Garden & Maize

We now have an amaranth garden. Some of you may know the quinoa-like grains – in Africa people also eat the leaves, like spinach.

Thanks to your support, a real superfood is now growing in Uganda. Amaranth is far more than just a plant. It is a building block for a healthy future for the children:

  • Valuable protein: Amaranth provides all the essential proteins. That is vital for the growth of the children there.
  • Protection against anaemia: The plant is extremely rich in iron. That gives people strength and energy for everyday life.
  • Strong immune system: The leaves are packed with vitamins. That protects the community effectively against illness.
  • Healthy bones: The high calcium content makes for strength. Young and old benefit alike.
  • Reliable harvest: Amaranth survives even intense heat. That makes our donations especially sustainable and crisis-proof.

By the way, our newly sown maize is growing wonderfully.
