Cocoa Growing Phase 2: The First Cocoa Plants Go into the Ground

Our cocoa project is moving on! 🌱

Phase 1 is complete: the land has been bought and belongs to us – around 8,100 square metres. More about it in Cocoa Growing Phase 1: The Land Is Ours.

Now comes Phase 2: the first cocoa plants are being planted.

From the truck to the field

The young plants arrive at the land with the truck bed full. There they are unloaded and planted in the ground one by one.

Why cocoa?

Later on, the cocoa will bring in money, and that goes straight to the children’s home. Step by step, the home should become partly self-supporting and not depend on donations alone.

Cocoa takes patience: it takes about three years before the plants really bear fruit. All the better that the first ones are now in the ground.

Thank you to everyone who made the cocoa seed possible! Want to keep being part of it? You can donate here. 💚
