Our new school building – brick by brick

For a long time we taught in two large huts with tin roofs – and under our big tree. But as a state school we need a solid building. So we simply started: brick by brick.

The walls go up

We started with a shock – and with a lot of trust in God. According to David the building costs around €7,000; by the time everything is finished, experience says more like €10,000. We didn’t have the money. But why wait?

  1. The government inspector visits with a team. He sees the classrooms, calls them dangerous for the children, especially when it rains – and threatens to close the school if nothing happens on the solid building.

  2. A generous donor transfers half of the sum we need, and a few smaller donations come in too. Hallelujah!

  3. Within a week the first walls are standing. The Bible school students help and learn on the job.

  4. The walls are much higher now. Everyone there is overjoyed.

Ring beam and roof

For the roof we were still short of around €3,000. Then came one step after another – and in the end a big YEAH.

  1. The last row of bricks is done and the concrete ring beam has been poured. It sits right at the top and holds every building together – a really important step before the roof goes on.

  2. The roof is finished! Hard to believe, but it’s on. Everyone is so happy.

Windows and doors

With God’s help we were able to fit windows and doors in our big new main building. Now it’s protected – from the rainy season and from burglars.

  1. The windows and doors are in.

Floors and plaster

Now all that’s missing are the floors and possibly the plaster on the inside walls. Then our new school building will be finished.

Help with the last step

While building the walls, every €100 meant another row of bricks. Now it’s about floors and plaster – so the children can learn in a finished school building. Thank you to everyone who has helped build it so far!
